How important is content marketing to home improvement businesses? According to a recent study, 3 in 4 small businesses are planning to boost their content marketing efforts this year.

Home Improvement Companies Using Content to Grow Business survey says 74% are currently using content marketing tactics and three-quarters of the small businesses said they planned to do more this year. And they stated that only 4% had no plans to do any content marketing at all.

The most popular ways to get content out there was by writing website articles, adding social media content (Facebook, Twitter, etc.), and using blogs.

What does this mean for contractors and home improvement pros? ‘

Content marketing is a great way for you to generate more leads at a very low cost. You can share your knowledge, ideas, and expertise in articles, on your blog, or on your Facebook page. These efforts always help prove you know what you’re talking about and that potential customers can trust you.

As you add content to your contractor marketing mix, you’ll be using powerful keyword phrases that make the search engines (Google, Bing, Yahoo!) happy and this will improve your web presence. And if the content is popular, people will link to your site which helps drive more traffic and improves your search engine optimization (SEO) rankings. Which can, in turn, bring in more leads and sales.

All for a very low cost.  Most of the businesses in the survey estimated that they spent under $100 on content marketing per month and only 11% spent more than $500.
